LYSOL PRODUCT EFFICACY

Is Lysol® effective against COVID-19?

Following extensive third-party laboratory testing, specific Lysol products have received formal regulatory approval from Health Canada of the data that demonstrated effectiveness (>99.9% inactivation) against 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), SARS-CoV-2 when used in accordance with the directions for use. The products are: LYSOL® BRAND II DISINFECTANT SPRAY, DIN 02448971 and LYSOL® DISINFECTING WIPES, DIN 02359014. As we receive additional approvals from Health Canada, we will update the list accordingly.

Several Lysol® DISINFECTANT products have demonstrated effectiveness against viruses similar to 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) on hard, non-porous surfaces. In accordance with Health Canada’s Viral Emerging Pathogen Policy the following Lysol® products are predicted to be effective (>99.99% inactivation) against 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) when used in accordance with the disinfection directions for use at 2-minute contact time

Under no circumstance should Lysol® products be swallowed. Please always read and follow the label instructions.

Due to recent speculation and social media activity, RB (the makers of Lysol) has been asked whether internal administration of disinfectants may be appropriate for investigation or use as a treatment for coronavirus (COVID-19). 

As a global leader in health and hygiene products, we must be clear that under no circumstance should our disinfectant products be administered into the human body (through injection, ingestion or any other route). As with all products, our disinfectant and hygiene products should only be used as intended and in line with usage guidelines. Please read the label and safety information.
